While guests on Ayurveda may need to stay for a minimum duration depending on their treatment package, guests who are not on Ayurveda could stay from two nights on wards. The hosts at Harivihar are a couple of post graduate doctors, passionate about hospitality, Dr Srikumar and Dr.Neetha Srikumar. Harivihar has just five double rooms, all with twin beds. Being a homestead, each room is different and all rooms come with bathrooms with all modern amenities. The rooms are big and well ventilated and have period and antique furniture. There are huge common rooms and verandahs, where one could sit in the planters chair with a book and listen to the birdsong!

We stayed here one night on our way to Kannur. It is a great place! Lovingly restored old building, very nice staff, great cooking. And a big lawn with chairs to just sit and relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Birdsong all around, mongooses walking through the garden. Just back from a 21 day stay at Harivahar Heritage House on an ayuvedic package to treat a nerve condition. Being there in September it was out of season and very quiet, perfect for me to relax. All procedures started the day after my arrival with one hour daily massage and one hour daily yoga class with Gopala, an excellent teacher and by the end of the stay a good friend. I had never used yoga practice before and he was very patient with me. Learnt so much from him not only the exercises but the philosophy of yoga practice. A truly relaxing and worthwhile stay and I was sad to leave....

We enjoyed for several days the extraordinary spirit and atmosphere of this place. The old family mansion has been renovated by Dr. Srikumar and his wife with great taste and love for the detail. You enter and you are in a different world! The aryuvedic cuisine is excellent. Yoga sessions are offered each morning. The large, well kept rooms and bathrooms are always very well maintained with high levels of cleanliness and hygiene. The house when you arrive for the first glimpse is stunning - not ornate but striking in its simplicity and beautifully kept grounds. We received a warm welcome and cool drink and were shown to our large, well furnished room on the ground floor. The furniture is traditional and lovely and the room naturally cool and comfortable. An excellent bathroom though the shower was rather reluctant to work!.... The meals are served by friendly and helpful staff in the dining room that has stunning outlook to the inner courtyard and the garden. We enjoyed the food and it certainly suited our digestive systems but we did find it rather bland.

Where to start !? We entered the property and were ushered into an entrance hall with the smell of incense and were immediately emblazoned with the Bindi( a sign of respect ) . The staff and management work amazingly together as a team , there is no boss or leader, it was teamwork and very impressive. If you need a life fix come here! If you need a break , come here! If you want to be treated like a king and queen , come here ! If you want to just relax and feel special, come here! For activities we found the local beach very friendly and Sm Street is fantastic for shopping ( grand bazaar ) !...

Spent 3 glorious days here on the slightly shortened introduction to Ayurveda programme and loved every minute of it. It was a last minute decision to go and was on a recommendation from a traveller we met in Kannur who told us that he found the food alone to be transforming! So we had to give it a go and are really glad that we did. We spent the afternoons walking to the beach and fishing village, one evening attending a Khatakali performance and an afternoon visiting the Kalari to watch kids being trained in the martial art of Kalarippayat....
